If you're like me, whenever you purchase a new gadget you never read the manual until something happens that forces you to pop it open. I've had my Nikon D-40x for over two years now and hate to admit that today was the first time I decided to take a peek at its manual. Since I have no idea where to find the original, I pulled it up on the official Nikon site. The contents page is very detailed, but it was the quick question and answer index that caught my interest. It asks questions like: How do I keep the camera from beeping? How do I choose where the camera focuses? It then directs you to the page(s) that correspond with your inquiry. I can tell that I will be using this quite a bit! The first thing I did was to have a look at the section titled "Getting To Know The Camera" because it's important for me to finally find out what all the other buttons are for! I'm familiar with the shutter release button, multi selector and the mode dial, but that's pretty much it. So for the next few days I will be taking the time to get to know my way around the camera and will share my findings with you.
